Vienna sausages anyone?

Next stop. . . Vienna!
Again, this is a beautiful city, although when we got here it was pretty crappy. It was snowing, and not beautiful snow, but chunky, wet, soggy, bone-chilling snow. Of course it had to be that way! So, we checked in to the hotel, and we ended up buying tickets for one of those cheesy tourist bus tours. You know the one I'm talking about. The bus with all the people pointing, and not speaking the native language. Yeah, that one. Well, we bought the tickets (about $40 each) and went and had lunch. Now comes the fun part. . . .we lost the tickets! We have NO idea where they went, seriously! I thought we were going to have to buy new tickets! That could get expensive! So, the front desk guy was nice enough to give us new tickets! How cute was he! So, later, we bought him some "famous" chocolate cake, and left it for him at the front desk. The cake that we left was "Sacher Hotel Chocolate Torte" this is suppose to world famous, but I ain't ever heard of it. It was just chocalate cake covered with apricot jam, then chocolate icing. Sound good? Yeah, it was just ok. But this cake had two people fighting over the creation of it for 7 years! 7 years of legal battles for a piece of flipping cake?! And it wasn't even that good!
There was a first for me in this city. . . I wen to the Opera! That's right people, I am now cultured!!!! Don't worry, it won't last for long! Dawn and I saw the first act of an opera, which was really good. . .and really boring. It was cool that they had little screens in front of each seat and stand room that had the translation of the words for you to keep up with. How cool is that? Yeah, we were in standing room, and get this. . .it only cost two euros! Two EUROS! How cheap is that for klassy theater. . .and yes, I spelled klassy with a "k" on purpose.
Well, as a little side trip (because there isn't enough to do in Venice as it is) we went to Budapest. Now, for those of you who don't know, Budapest is in Hungary, and it use to be two seperate cities. . .Buda and Pest, divided by a river. Now it's one city, but it has two distinct styles for each part. Buda is the old part with the castel with the huge walls and old churches. Pest has the parliament house (looks like the one from the UK a little) and the new buildings, churches, and such. A beautiful city (once again) with a very interesting language. Now, this tour that we went on we booked at the hotel. When they came to pick us up the next morning, there were only the two of us on the tour. So our tour guide (whose name I don't remember) drove us, that's right, DROVE us to Hungary and Budapest! We crossed the border, got another stamp for our passports, and fell asleep in the backseat! Dawn and I have a tendency to fall asleep on tours. . .whether it be bus, car, tram, walking. . .we can fall asleep! It was such a long drive! I think it took almost 3 hours. Ugh, well, the tour was ok. We saw things, walked around a bit, but I think that we might have been better to taken a bus tour, because our guide spent most of his time paying attention to the road, and not pointing things out. Not that paying attention to the road isn't a good thing, but we wanted more info.
The next day (the day that I deceided to sleep in) was the MOST beautiful day in Vienna! The snow had melted, the sun was out, and it was georgeous! Of course I miss half the day beacause I slept in. that's always my luck!
We then went to the train station at the end of the day and got on our train to Paris. We had scheduled a 4 person bunk couchette thingy, but we ended up with our own room! How cool! We never had any other people join us! And then, we got to Paris. . . to be continued.
